    Description: 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher - ABS ORONO HIGH SCHOOL

    Job Summary:

    • Work collaboratively with special services team members to support the academic, character, social and emotional growth of learners.
    • Collaborate with IEP team members to design, coordinate, and deliver a rigorous and appropriate education for students with disabilities.
    • Participate in regular PLC meetings as an active and engaged professional.
    • Conduct and maintain due process paperwork according to District, State, and Federal guidelines.
    • Communicate frequently with parents, colleagues, students, and administrators through all available means of technology.
    • Establish and maintain high standards for the educational experience of students.

    Qualifications:

    • Current Minnesota Teaching License required - MN Special Education License required.
    • High level of Special Education due process expertise required.
    • Experiene with with instructing students in Secondary Transition areas (employment, post-secondary and independent living skills)
    • Demonstrate ability to facilitate meaningful discourse in IEP meetings.
    • Experience working directly with students in classroom/resource room setting preferred.
    • Effective classroom management skills.
    • Effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated experience in collaboration and problem-solving.
    • Experience with curriculum, assessment, and accommodation design.
    • Understanding of the role of parent involvement and the ability to collaborate with parents.
    • Ability to use technology as an instructional tool.
    • Workbased Learning License preferred.

    Bargaining Group and Level: Orono Education Association/Teachers

    COMPENSATION
    BA Step 1 ($49,266) to EdS Step 20 ($105,958)

    Family Health: 65% Covered by District
    Dental: 100% Coverage by District
    Life Insurance: $50,000 Covered by District
