Regions Hospital is looking for a highly motivated clinical pharmacist to provide pharmaceutical care and clinical expertise to patients in the Emergency Department. The Clinical Pharmacist will work independently under minimal supervision and work cooperatively with health system and pharmacy staff. The pharmacist should have the ability to set priorities in an environment with frequent interruptions and be able to adapt to changes in workload and work schedule.

The pharmacist will be expected to respond to urgent and emergent patient cases and provide bedside services for patients in our emergency department. These two new positions are an expansion of our current clinical service, allowing us to offer 24/7 clinical pharmacy coverage in the Emergency Department.

The pharmacist will provide professional pharmaceutical services by:

  • Verifying orders.

  • Completing appropriate medication histories.

  • Dispensing medications and related supplies.

  • Monitoring patient medication therapies.

  • Providing drug information to healthcare providers.

  • Overseeing the work of direct support personnel.

Work Schedule:

  • FTE: 0.8 (32 hours weekly), Nights
  • Shifts:7 on/7 off, Overnights

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a PharmD or BS in Pharmacy
  • Currently functioning in a decentralized capacity (comparable role), or

  • Completion of a Post-Doctorate Pharmacy Program (i.e., residency or fellowship, e.g., American Society of Health System Pharmacists [ASHP] accredited PGY1 or PGY2 pharmacy residency), or
  • BPS Board Certification (e.g., Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist)

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination:

  • Education-Same as above.
  • Post-graduate training and/or BPS Board Certification in area of specialty.

  • Emergency medicine experience

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

  • Licensed preceptor with MN Board of Pharmacy is preferred for any pharmacist roles that will precept students and interns.
